El análisis del corpus seleccionado muestra que las mujeres están infrarrepresentadas en comparación con los hombres. Pero también revela que las diferencias no se deben exclusivamente al factor género, sino que existen otros factores que resultan determinantes a la horade explicar la menor proporción de representaciones femeninas. This research paper analyses the representation of women on coins and banknotes in a specific geographical and historical context: Spain from the mid-19th century to the end of the 20th century, when the peseta was the official currency of the Spanish state, and makes a comparative analysis with other western countries, against the background of the historical context and the social changes that took place. The analysis of the selected corpus shows that women are under-represented in comparison with men. But it also reveals that the differences are not exclusively due to the gender factor, but that there are other factors that are decisive in explaining the lower proportion of female representations.
