Esta tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo la interpretación general de la obra de Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio a la luz del problema filosófico del carácter y el destino. Para ello, se estructura en cinco capítulos en torno a los temas principales de los ensayos del autor: los dos de la oposición referida, o sea, los del carácter y el destino, que son los más relevantes o al menos los más largos, pero también los de la hipotaxis, el refrán y la técnica —todos ellos asuntos que acaso se entiendan de manera más acertada o siquiera comprensible si se les introduce en la hipótesis general de que la obra de Ferlosio puede explicarse por aquella sola oposición. El trabajo concluye con una reflexión general sobre la conocida sentencia de Heráclito que dice «el carácter, para el ser humano, es un destino», con la que se quiere presentar los resultados de la investigación.
This doctoral thesis aims to provide a general interpretation of Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio’s works according to the philosophical problem of character and fate. To this end, it is structured in five chapters around the main themes of the author's essays: the two themes of the mentioned opposition, namely character and fate, which are the most relevant or at least the longest, but also those of hypotaxis, proverbs, and technique—all of which are issues that can perhaps be explained more accurately or at least comprehensively if they are introduced into the general hypothesis that Ferlosio's works can be explained by that single opposition. The work concludes with a general reflection on Heraclitus' well-known statement that “character, for human beings, is fate”, with which the results of the research are presented.
