               <mods:abstract>RNA viruses constitute a major social and health threat worldwide, due to the high variability that these viruses present, and their ability to adapt and overcome selective internal constrains such as host immunity, vaccines, and antiviral treatments, or external constrains such as adaptation to new environments, or the adaptation to new host species. The first barrier against viral infections is the innate immune response, which recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) thanks to specialized receptors, the pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). Within the different PAMPs that are recognized, viral RNAs (vRNAs) are one of the most relevant. vRNAs are recognized by the cytosolic PRRs, the retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptors (RLRs), which after binding to vRNAs, initiate signaling pathways that drive the production of interferons (IFNs) and proinflammatory cytokines, establishing an antiviral state, with the aim of limiting viral replication and propagation...Los virus ARN constituyen una de las mayores amenazas globales a nivel sociosanitario, debido a su elevada variabilidad y su capacidad para adaptarse y superar diferentes barreras selectivas como son la respuesta inmunitaria de los hospedadores, el empleo de vacunas y tratamientos antivirales, o barreras externas como la adaptación a nuevos ambientes, o la adaptación a nuevas especies hospedadoras.
