El tema del doble ha sido uno de los mitos más recurrentes en la literatura y el cine contemporáneos desde su aparición en el siglo XIX unido al género fantástico. Paralelamente, el ciclo artúrico fue incorporado a la postmodernidad con el poema “La tierra baldía” (1922) de T. S. Eliot. Esta obra determinó la visión postmoderna del mito artúrico de la búsqueda del Santo Grial, reflejada por el cine contemporáneo, con ejemplos notables como “Excalibur” (1981), “Indiana Jones y la última Cruzada” (1989) o “El rey pescador” (1991). En la presente comunicación nos proponemos analizar el distinto tratamiento del tema del doble dentro del mito artúrico en su doble vertiente luminosa/sombría.
The double motif has been one of the modern myths more recurrent in both contemporary literature and film since its appearance in the 19th century together with the fantastic genre. In a parallel way, the Arthurian legend was incorporated into the modernity with the poem "The Waste Land" (1922) by T. S. Eliot. This work determined the postmodern vision of the Arthurian myth of the quest of the Holy Grail, as shown in contemporary film, with notable examples such as "Excalibur" (1981), "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989) or "The Fisher King" (1991). In this paper, we are intended to analyse the different treatment of the double motif inside of the Arthurian myth in its both bright/dark sides.
