Nuestro trabajo busca resaltar la aplicación práctica de los remedios naturales recopilados en la farmacopea egipcia del Imperio Medio, cuyas fuentes médicas principales son los papiros de Kahoun, Ebers y Edwin Smith.
En dicho análisis hemos encontrado principalmente tratamientos de origen vegetal como el uso de los nenúfares, la mandrágora y la adormidera (por sus efectos alucinógenos y analgésicos), además de los inciensos psicotrópicos (como el kyphi).
Del mismo modo, cabe destacar la importancia del curandero y las técnicas terapéuticas que manejaba para tratar enfermedades del corazón, la vista y el aparato ginecológico.Our work seeks to highlight the practical application of the natural remedies collected in the Egyptian pharmacopoeia of the Middle Kingdom, whose main medical sources are the papyri of Kahoun, Ebers and Edwin Smith.
In this analysis we have mainly found treatments of plant origin such as the use of water lilies, mandrake and opium poppy (for its hallucinogenic and analgesic effects), in addition to psychotropic incenses (such as kyphi).
Likewise, it is important to emphasize the importance of the quack and the therapeutic techniques that he managed to treat diseases of the heart, the sight and the gynecological system.
