Este artículo-reseña valora positivamente el Quijote publicado por Francisco Rico con motivo del IV Centenario de la Segunda Parte del clásico (1615). Lo que se echa en falta no es de la exclusiva incumbencia del editor o su equipo: estudiar los libros de caballerías, la tratadística militar o la literatura hagiográfica, que se revelan fundamentales para entender el Quijote, son tareas que competen a todos los cervantistas. Detalles al margen, las herramientas a disposición del lector configuran un status quaestionis fresco y preciso; del mismo modo, las fichas lexicográficas cumplen bien su función, aunque las relativas a la botánica esperan una revisión en profundidad.By means of this article-review we welcome this new Quixote, published on the occasion of the fourth centenary of the Second Part of this masterpiece (1615).
In order to understand how the Quixote was designed, we must go deeper in the study of the books of chivalry, but we should take into account the treatises de re militari, the lifes of saints and other literary reservoirs. With some few exceptions, the reader may rely on the status quaestionis, conveniently updated and accurate, which has been interwoven with the introduction, notes and other tools. Similarly, the lexicographical records are quite satisfactory, except those related to Botany, which need a thorough review.
