En los últimos 20-30 años, se han realizado numerosos avances en el conocimiento de las sociedades de finales del Pleistoceno Medio. El resultado ha sido el abandono de las posturas que dominaron la investigación en buena parte de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Por otro lado, en esta etapa continúan empleándose los conceptos de Paleolítico Inferior y Medio. En este artículo intentaremos mostrar cual ha sido la evolución de estos conceptos en los últimos 20 o 30 años. Así mismo, veremos cuáles son los problemas a los que se enfrenta la investigación en el estudio de las industrias de finales del Pleistoceno Medio. Por último, nos centraremos en el papel de la Península Ibérica a través del análisis de los yacimientos más significativos.In the last 20-30 years, numerous advances have been made in the knowledge of the societies of end of Middle Pleistocene. The result has been the abandonment of the positions that
dominated the investigation in good part of second half of century XX. On the other hand, in this stage they continue being used the concepts of Middle and Lower Palaeolithic. In this article we will try to show as it has been the evolution of these concepts in the last 20 or 30 years. Also, we will see which are the problems which the investigation in the study of the industries of end Middle Pleistocene. Finally, we will be centered in the paper of the Iberian Peninsula through the analysis of the most significant archeological sites.
