<mods:abstract>In this paper, a model for the study of the interaction between cognition and affect in Mathematics is proposed. Using this model, the description of emotional reactions and their origin is made possible, as are the changes and evolution within the subjects of analysis. The importance of taking into account such dimensions in this kind of research, referring to students who are failing academically, is explained through a case study.</mods:abstract>
