These structural units, have been evolved during the Neogene, under the stress fields transmitted from the active Iberian Plate borders, the Betic and the Pyrenees. The superposition of these two regional stress tensors produces locally the «Altomira» stress field. The evolution and superposition of these regional stress fields is a gradual and long term process. España.
