Mujer y voluntariado: motivaciones para la participacion Chacón Fuertes, Fernando Vecina Jiménez, María Luisa Dávila De León, María Celeste En este artículo se define el voluntariado como una conducta de ayuda planificada, relativa­mente importante y mantenida en el tiempo: diferenciable de las conductas de ayuda espontá­ neas. Se presenta una revisión de las diferencias de género en las conductas de ayuda y de las teorías explicativas. Para comprobar si existen diferencias en motivaciones autocentradas y heterocentradas se aplicó el cuestionario de motivaciones de Ornato y Snyder a una muestra de 112 voluntarios de la Comunidad de Madrid. Se comprobó que no existen diferencias en las motivaciones por género; sin embargo, se encuentran diferencias según la edad. Volunteerism is defined in this article as an important and sustained helping behaviour that is actively and deliberately sough out. A review of gender differences in helping behaviour and the conceptual frameworks are presented. The empiric goal is to check if there were defferences between men and women in self-oriented and other oriented motivations to be volunteer. A sample of 112 volunteers answered to the Inventory of Motivations of AIDS Volunteerism. The results show that moti­ vations between men and women do not differ.
