Por un lado, quiere participar en la vieja disputa acerca del papel que ha jugado la categoría del ser humano entendido como individuo en la construcción del orden social de la modernidad. Y, por otro, el de hacerlo a partir de las aportaciones de Andrés Bilbao sobre el tema tal y como se recogen en su obra póstuma. Con el fin de desentrañar todo su sentido contrastamos sus ideas con las del antropólogo francés Louis Dumont y extraemos de esa comparación algunas conclusiones de interés. Un mejor conocimiento de los orígenes del orden social moderno redunda siempre en un mejor conocimiento de los problemas del presente.The objective of the article is twofold. On the one hand, it aims to participate in the old dispute about the role that the man conceived as an individual has played in the construction of the social order of modernity. And, on the other, to do it based on the contributions of Andrés Bilbao on the subject, as reflected in his posthumous work. In order to unravel its meaning we contrast his ideas with those of the French anthropologist L. Dumont and draw from this comparison some interesting conclusions.
