Parte desde su concepción instrumental y avanza hacia una concepción ampliada, de modo que, de manera deductiva, extrae las principales variables de su operacionalización. Con base en lo anterior, son discutidas analíticamente diferentes teorías que sustentan los efectos positivos y negativos de la democracia en el desarrollo. Finalmente, mediante un análisis econométrico de las variables identificadas, es determinada la significancia estadística de la relación funcional entre lo político hacia lo económico y viceversa.The article reflects on the functional relationship between democracy and development by describing its conceptual evolution. It starts from its instrumental conception and advances towards an expanded one, so that, in a deductive way, the main variables of its operationalization are extracted. Based on the above, different theories that support the positive and negative effects of democracy on development are analytically discussed.
