This conjecture is unanimously attributed to Fr. Boll (1910), but it was proposed already in 1790 by G.W. Maier. The use of “unus” in this context, in which the set of harmonic spheres of our cosmos is described, can be explained as an alternative to “primus” when referring to the first element of a sequence; further instances in Cicero’s works support this interpretation.engThe sphere of Saturn (Cicero, “De re publica”, 6.17)journal article2365-3116https://doi.org/10.25162/hermes-2022-0024https://biblioscout.net/article/10.25162/hermes-2022-0024https://www.steiner-verlag.de/en/Hermes-print-online/JE-HER-3https://www.steiner-verlag.de/en/https://www.steiner-verlag.de/en/journalsopen access821.124Cicerón, Marco Tulio7der.08801.73De re publicaDe re publicaNumeralsTextual criticismAncient astronomyFilología latinaCrítica textual5505.10 Filología6202 Teoría, Análisis y Crítica Literarias
