Cellular mechanisms involving autophagy include the response to nutrient deprivation, intracellular quality control, early development, and cell differentiation. Despite its established health significance, the role of autophagy in cancer and other diseases remains complex and not fully understood. A comprehensive understanding of autophagy is crucial to facilitate the development of novel therapies and drugs that can protect and improve human health. High-throughput technologies, such as single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), have enabled researchers to study transcriptional landscapes at single-cell resolution, significantly advancing our knowledge of autophagy pathways across diverse physiological and pathological contexts. This review discusses the latest advances in scRNA-seq for autophagy research and highlights its potential in the molecular characterization of various diseases.engAttribution-NonCommercial 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/Highlighting roles of autophagy in human diseases: a perspective from single-cell RNA sequencing analysesjournal article1878-5832https://doi.org/10.1016/j.drudis.2024.104224https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1359644624003490?via%3Dihubopen access577.113577.21616-006.04616.8615.01/.03AutophagyCancerDiseasePhysiological processSingle-cellRNA sequencingBioquímica (Biología)Biología molecular (Biología)OncologíaNeurociencias (Medicina)Farmacología (Farmacia)2403 Bioquímica2415 Biología Molecular2302.23 Ácidos Nucleicos3201.01 Oncología3207.11 Neuropatología3209 Farmacología
