First, I extract some possible ontological implications of Sigmund Freud’s work, and connect them with the four distinct political positions that one finds variously represented in his work. I then show how Jacques Lacan’s thought connects to the Freudian ontology and how Lacan’s own political considerations can be related to these fundamental theoretical considerations.
