En este artículo se intenta evaluar los conceptos básicos y métodos de la «Tafonomía»; sus relaciones con otros campos científicos de investigación, especialmente de la Geología, también son tenidas en cuenta. Y se muestra que la aplicación de varios conceptos de sistemas tafonómicos es de particular valor paleontológico. [ABSTRACT] Taphonomy literally means «the laws of burial» and was originally described as the «study of the transition of organic remains from the biosphere into the lithosphere», after EFREMOV (1940). This paper tries to evaluate the basic concepts and methods of «Taphonomy»; its relationships with other research fields, especially in Geology, are also considered.
