The suppression of the order–disorder transition shown in Cabrera et al (2006 Opt. Lett. 31 1067) for homogeneously broadened class B lasers is found for both glass lasers, independently of the strength of the cross-relaxation mechanisms. The results obtained indicate that a higher degree of inhomogeneous broadening leads to suppression of the filamentation in the transverse intensity pattern.engThe influence of the inhomogeneous gain profile on the spatio-temporal dynamics of broad-area class B lasersjournal articlehttps://doi.org/10.1088/2040-8978/12/3/035201http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/2040-8978/12/3/035201restricted access535.374535.5Broad-area lasersLasersSpatio-temporal dynamicsNd:YAGInhomogeneous patternÓptica (Física)LáseresÓptica no líneal2209.19 Óptica Física2209.10 Láseres2209.13 Óptica no lineal
