Las fuentes sólo señalan que era hija del Prefecto del Pretorio Timesteo y que en el año 241 d.C. se casó con el joven emperador Gordiano III (238-244 d.C.) cuando ambos tenían unos quince o dieciséis años. A pesar de las escasas fuentes literarias que se han conservado sobre ella, se conocen varios epígrafes y sobre todo bastantes monedas de bronce a su nombre, aunque casi todas ellas son de carácter provincial. En el presente artículo analizaremos las distintas series labradas para ella en las cecas imperiales de Roma y de Antioquía y en las provinciales de otras muchas ciudades de Oriente, así como las inscripciones conservadas que fueron erigidas en su honor.
