Addressing these requires a multidisciplinary approach, with residents’ support for tourism playing a pivotal role. This article introduces the ‘Ressup_tdc model’ aimed at gauging residents’ support during crises, drawing from the Risk Homeostasis Theory and the Reactance Theory. Tested on 342 residents of Madrid, the model employs a parallel mediation analysis. The research reveals the impact of attitudes towards crisis management policies on tourism support, mediated by benefits and costs, and the influence of risk perception on tourism backing during crises. This model serves as a valuable tool in crisis scenarios, emphasizing the emotional aspect's significance in shaping responses.engResidents’ support for tourism in times of crisis: the Ressup_tdc modeljournal articlehttps://doi.org/10.1080/19407963.2025.2541676https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/19407963.2025.2541676?src=metadata only access338.48Resident supportTourism policyRisk homeostasis theoryReactance theoryTourism managementTurismoPolíticaAdministración localGeografía humanaEmpresas5902 Ciencias Políticas5902.99 Otras5910 Opinión Pública5909 Administración Pública5311 Organización y Dirección de Empresas
