On the basis of detailed geological mapping, five main stratigraphic units, ranging the Lower and Middle Miocene, have been distinguished in the area. These units can be correlated with the major Neogene units defined in the Madrid Basin. The stratigraphic correlation has been favoured by recent findings of mammal localities in the area.spaEstratigrafía de los depósitos arcósicos en el sector occidental de la Cuenca de Madridjournal articlehttp://www.sociedadgeologica.es/publicaciones_geotemas.htmlopen access552StratigraphyArkosesMammal localitiesNeogeneMadrid BasinPetrología
