Acknowledgments: The authors would like to express their sincere gratitude to the radiology technicians and doctors at the imaging departments of Hôpital Notre Dame des Secours and St. George’s University Medical Hospital in Lebanon for their invaluable training and support. Their guidance on the specifications of the CT scanner software, the collection of CT scans, the interpretation of osseous medical reports, and the use of DICOM software was essential to this study. We also thank the reviewers for their constructive feedback, which significantly improved the quality of the article. This retrospective cross-sectional study aims to test the reliability of the Suchey-Brooks method using Computed Tomography (CT) scans of pubic symphyses of 155 Lebanese living individuals (76 males and 79 females) aged 17 to 98 years. This study reveals that 94.9 % of the sampled individuals fell within the range of 2 standard deviations from the reference mean for predicted age. Additionally, the study assesses phase assignation, overall bias of 1.29, and overall inaccuracy of 8.09, along with strong intra and inter-observer reliability with weighted Cohen’s Kappa (k) 0.901 and 0.82, respectively. Transition analysis was also used to generate new Lebanese age references. The new reference proposed in this study improves the accuracy of age estimation compared to the Suchey-Brooks method when applied to the Lebanese population.engAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Age estimation using CT images of the pubic symphysis of Lebanese living individualsjournal article1873-4162https://doi.org/10.1016/j.legalmed.2025.102647open access611.71Forensic AnthropologyAge EstimationSuchey-Brooks MethodLebanese PopulationComputed Tomography(CT)Pubic SymphysisMedicinaAnatomíaDiagnóstico por imagen y medicina nuclearHistoria de la medicina3201 Ciencias Clínicas3202 Epidemiología3206 Ciencias de la Nutrición2410 Biología Humana2411 Fisiología Humana2414 Microbiología
