Asimismo, se analiza el resultado de las excavaciones realizadas en Alesia entre 1861 y 1867, así como el uso posterior que se realizó por el gobierno francés de las ruinas y de la figura de Vercingetorix, para construir una identidad nacional francesa frente al nacionalismo alemán.This paper explores the influence that had the figure of Julio Cesar with the Roman army in the politics of the second French Empire, during which Napoleón III showed a great interest in the figure of the Roman dictator.
