Proton decay in a nucleus: nonrelativistic treatment of nuclear effects
(Physical review D, 1983) Fernández Pérez, Luis Antonio; Fernández Álvarez-Estrada, Ramón; Sánchez Gómez, J. L.
In this paper, proton decay in a large nucleus is studied in the framework of SU(5) grand unification theory (GUT). By using a method based upon the Green s-function technique of many-body physics, nuclear effects on spectator and pole terms are computed. The decay width in the nucleus is found to be practically the same as in free space. However, nuclear effects are of considerable importance concerning the positron spectrum. A densitycorrelation expansion is introduced which is useful for carrying out a systematic study of nuclear effects in proton decay in a large nucleus. The method presented here can be easily extended to other GUT's or supersymmetric GUT's.

Proton decay in a nucleus: effects of the nuclear surface
(Physical review D, 1986) Fernández Álvarez-Estrada, Ramón; Fernández Pérez, Luis Antonio
In this paper, a previously published method to deal with proton decay in nuclear rnatter is generalized in order to account for eA'ects coming from the nuclear surface. The treatment is applied to nucleon decay in 16^O and 56^Fe.

Order of the deconfining phase transition in pure-gauge QCD
    (Physical review letters, 1988) Bacilieri, P.; Remiddi, E.; Todesco, G.M.; Bernashchi, M.; Cabasino, S.; Cabibbo, N.; Fernández Pérez, Luis Antonio; Marinari, E.; Paolucci, P.; Parisi, G.; Salina, G.; Tarancón, A.; Coppola, F.; Lombardo, M.P.; Simeone, E.; Tripiccione, R,; Fiorentini, G.; Lai, A.; Marchesini, P.A.; Marzano, F.
We study the behavior of the string tension in the SU(3) lattice pure-gauge theory close to the deconfining critical point. We find very large correlation lengths, increasing with the lattice size. This result is strongly suggestive of a second-order phase transition, and excludes the presence of a strong first-order transition.

Stochastic quantization of Yang-Mills field theory: Gauge-fixing parameter dependence and equilibrium limit
(Physical review D, 1987) Muñoz Sudupe, Antonio; Fernández Pérez, Luis Antonio
We calculate, in the framework of stochastic quantization, the one-loop-divergent part of the gluon self-energy and the triple-gluon vertex of pure Yang Mills field theory, with an arbitrary choice of the stochastic gauge-fixing parameter. This allows us to check that the strong conditions imposed by renormalizability are satisfied up to one-loop order. We compare our results with those corning from the Faddeev Popov theory and discuss the relationship between both approaches in the equilibrium limit.
