Development of a Management System for Short Online Learning Courses
(Education Sciences, 2021) Sarasa Cabezuelo, Antonio
In all areas of knowledge, there is a set of basic concepts or ideas that are essential to understand. A very common problem that arises among students is the difficulty in acquiring these concepts. One way to solve this problem is by carrying out small knowledge tests where these concepts are put into practice. To develop these tests there are multiple options, however, in general, the applications that allow for these tests to be implemented are usually very complex and are often included within other larger systems. This article describes a tool to develop short online courses that presents an interface and a functionality that allows a teacher to create and manage courses in a very simple and intuitive way. In the same way, it offers the student an Android app to be able to access the courses published by the teacher to be able to take them, as well as to manage all the activity of it.

Development of a Mobile Application to Buy Books through Visual Recognition
    (Knowledge, 2022) Sarasa Cabezuelo, Antonio
Mobile devices have become the most used tool for a large number of tasks that we regularly perform such as relating them, searching for information, and in particular for making purchases. A situation that is frequently repeated in many areas is discovering an object that belongs to another person but we would be interested in being able to acquire it. However, the problem arises of knowing where to buy it. For example, this happens with the clothes that other people are wearing. Today, technology offers recognition mechanisms that can help solve this problem. This article presents an Android app that can recognize a book based on an image and offer places where it can be purchased. For this, Google technology was used to recognize objects from images and it has been combined with the information provided by Google Books to find stores that sell recognized books. In this way, a system has been created that makes it easier for any user to identify and purchase books that they discover at any given time.

Application of Artificial Intelligence Techniques to Predict Survival in Kidney Transplantation: A Review
(Journal of Clinical Medicine, 2020) Díez Sanmartín, Covadonga; Sarasa Cabezuelo, Antonio
A key issue in the field of kidney transplants is the analysis of transplant recipients’ survival. By means of the information obtained from transplant patients, it is possible to analyse in which cases a transplant has a higher likelihood of success and the factors on which it will depend. In general, these analyses have been conducted by applying traditional statistical techniques, as the amount and variety of data available about kidney transplant processes were limited. However, two main changes have taken place in this field in the last decade. Firstly, the digitalisation of medical information through the use of electronic health records (EHRs), which store patients’ medical histories electronically. This facilitates automatic information processing through specialised software. Secondly, medical Big Data has provided access to vast amounts of data on medical processes. The information currently available on kidney transplants is huge and varied by comparison to that initially available for this kind of study. This new context has led to the use of other non-traditional techniques more suitable to conduct survival analyses in these new conditions. Specifically, this paper provides a review of the main machine learning methods and tools that are being used to conduct kidney transplant patient and graft survival analyses.

Application of Machine Learning Techniques to Analyze Patient Returns to the Emergency Department
(Journal of Personalized Medicine, 2020) Sarasa Cabezuelo, Antonio
The study of the quality of hospital emergency services is based on analyzing a set of indicators such as the average time of first medical attention, the average time spent in the emergency department, degree of completion of the medical report and others. In this paper, an analysis is presented of one of the quality indicators: the rate of return of patients to the emergency service less than 72 h from their discharge. The objective of the analysis was to know the variables that influence the rate of return and which prediction model is the best. In order to do this, the data of the activity of the emergency service of a hospital of a reference population of 290,000 inhabitants were analyzed, and prediction models were created for the binary objective variable (rate of return to emergencies) using the logistic regression techniques, neural networks, random forest, gradient boosting and assembly models. Each of the models was analyzed and the result shows that the best model is achieved through a neural network with activation function tanh, algorithm levmar and three nodes in the hidden layer. This model obtains the lowest mean squared error (MSE) and the best area under the curve (AUC) with respect to the rest of the models used.

Provenance Data Management in Health Information Systems: A Systematic Literature Review
(Journal of Personalized Medicine, 2023) Sembay, Márcio José; Jeronimo de Macedo, Douglas Dyllon; Pioli Júnior, Laércio; Maciel Braga, Regina Maria; Sarasa Cabezuelo, Antonio
Aims: This article aims to perform a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to better understand the structures of different methods, techniques, models, methodologies, and technologies related to provenance data management in health information systems (HISs). The SLR developed here seeks to answer the questions that contribute to describing the results. Method: An SLR was performed on six databases using a search string. The backward and forward snowballing technique was also used. Eligible studies were all articles in English that presented on the use of different methods, techniques, models, methodologies, and technologies related to provenance data management in HISs. The quality of the included articles was assessed to obtain a better connection to the topic studied. Results: Of the 239 studies retrieved, 14 met the inclusion criteria described in this SLR. In order to complement the retrieved studies, 3 studies were included using the backward and forward snowballing technique, totaling 17 studies dedicated to the construction of this research. Most of the selected studies were published as conference papers, which is common when involving computer science in HISs. There was a more frequent use of data provenance models from the PROV family in different HISs combined with different technologies, among which blockchain and middleware stand out. Despite the advantages found, the lack of technological structure, data interoperability problems, and the technical unpreparedness of working professionals are still challenges encountered in the management of provenance data in HISs. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude the existence of different methods, techniques, models, and combined technologies, which are presented in the proposal of a taxonomy that provides researchers with a new understanding about the management of provenance data in HISs.
