Innovation, internationalization and business-growth expectations among entrepreneurs in the services sector
(Journal of Business Research, 2016) Castaño, María Soledad; Méndez Picazo, María Teresa; Galindo Martín, Miguel Ángel
World economies experience a huge process of globalization that, among other things, makes more markets available for businesses and entrepreneurs to place their products. Market availability, in turn, generates positive expectations of business growth, which results in greater competition and innovation, which help to achieve a higher level of product internationalization. This study aims to ascertain whether service sector entrepreneurs who decide to innovate and internationalize have expectations of achieving greater business growth. This study examines the direct relationship between innovation, internationalization, and the expectations of business growth of service sector entrepreneurs. To do so, this study conducts an empirical analysis with data from seventeen countries.

Relationship between ambidexterity and entrepreneurial intensity
(Economic Research-Ekonomska Istrazivanja, 2020) Castaño Martínez, María Soledad; Galindo Martín, Miguel Ángel; Méndez Picazo, María Teresa; Palacios Marqués, Daniel
Within organisational analysis, a concept that has been gaining importance has been organisational ambidexterity, where two factors play an important role: entrepreneurial intensity and innovations. The objective of this article is to analyse the relationship between entrepreneurial intensity and ambidexterity. The conceptualisation of ambidexterity distinguishes between ambidextrous activities and ambidextrous outcomes. To carry out this objective, we have tested several theoretical relationships. We have used partial least squares methodology to develop an empirical study in 25 European countries. Results confirm that collaboration networks have a positive effect on entrepreneurship intensity. This effect is greater than the one obtained by ambidextrous activities or new technologies. We also show that entrepreneurship intensity has a mediating role between ambidextrous activities and ambidextrous outcomes.

The Relationship between Green Innovation, Social Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Development
(Sustainability, 2020) Galindo Martín, Miguel Ángel; Castaño Martínez, María Soledad; Méndez Picazo, María Teresa
Economic growth is one of the important objectives of economic policy due to the beneficial effects it has on employment and economic well-being. The work carried out in the last few decades has highlighted the roles that entrepreneurship and innovation play in promoting this objective. However, the environmental deterioration resulting from policies implemented to stimulate growth has led to considerations of other objectives that are more compatible with the defense of the environment, such as sustainable development. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that stimulate them. This paper considers traditional and social entrepreneurship and innovations and green innovation. The effect of institutions as generators of legal and economic environments on both types of entrepreneurship is contemplated. On the other hand, considering the possibility of “bidirectional causality”, the relationship between both types of entrepreneurship and institutions is also analyzed. This will allow us to design measures aimed at stimulating sustainable development. The objective of this paper is to analyze these relationships through two estimates: first, an analysis of the relationship between both types of entrepreneurship and innovations and sustainable development and second, the relationship between social and traditional entrepreneurship and institutions. In both cases, the path coefficient of each of them is compared with respect to the final objective, which would be useful when designing economic policies. Empirical analysis is carried out, producing an estimation of the structural equation modeling (SEM) model using the partial least squares (PLS) technique in the case of 20 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries.

The effect of social, cultural, and economic factors on entrepreneurship
(Journal of Business Research, 2015) Castaño Martínez, María Soledad; Méndez Picazo, María Teresa; Galindo Martín, Miguel Ángel
Current economic downturn encourages extensive research into economic growth engines, with entrepreneurship as one of the key drivers of growth. Although crucial, determining which variables stimulate entrepreneurial activity constitutes a difficult task due to interrelated factors. This study analyzes three groups of factors affecting entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs' perceptions of opportunity: social, cultural, and economic variables. Therefore, this study employs the partial least squares method for two groups of countries: (1) European countries, and (2) Latin-American and Caribbean countries. This approach identifies how these factors' effects differ across different countries.

The relationship between environment and growth: a model with externalities due to pollution
(1999) Escot Mangas, Lorenzo; Galindo Martín, Miguel Ángel
The goal of this paper is to analyse the relationship between economic growth and environment. We will take into account the neoclassical growth model and we will include the negative externalities on production derived from pollution. In this case, we will be able to study how the basic conclusions of the neoclassical growth model change. The results justi:tY that opposite measures to those defended by traditional neoclassical models must be introduced to improve long term per capita income. These policies must be coordinated with the environmental policy that reduces the negative effects derived from the pollution externalities.
