Abstract
La cefalea es uno de los trastornos más comunes del sistema nervioso central que afecta a 1 de cada 10 personas en todo el mundo y habiendo una mayor prevalencia en el sexo femenino. Es uno de los motivos de consulta en Atención Primaria más frecuentes y, aunque en sí misma no se considera una enfermedad grave, es importante prestarle atención ya que puede ser causa de otro tipo de patologías de mayor gravedad [1].La población general no considera que las cefaleas sean una enfermedad grave porque se presentan generalmente por episodios, no son mortales ni se contagian. Las tasas bajas de consulta en los países desarrollados pueden indicar que muchos enfermos desconocen la existencia de tratamiento eficaz; se calcula que la mitad de las personas que padecen cefalea se tratan ellas mismas. El tratamiento se basa en dos pilares fundamentales: que cada paciente descubra los desencadenantes de sus crisis lo que espaciaría en el tiempo su frecuencia y utilizar fármacos adecuados para cada tipo de cefalea...
Headache is one of the most common disorders of the central nervous system that affects 1 in 10 people worldwide, and having a higher prevalence in females. It is one of the most frequent reasons for consultation in Primary Care and, although it is not considered a serious disease itself, it is important to pay attention to it since it can bethe cause by other types of more serious pathologies. Headaches are not considered to be a serious illness by the general population because they usually are not fatal, and are not contagious. Low consultation rates in developed countries may indicate that many patients are ignore the availability of an effective treatment; it is estimated that half of people suffering from headaches self-treat. Treatment is based on two fundamental pillars: that each patient discovers the triggers of their pain crisis which would diminish their frequency and use appropriate drugs for each type of headache...
