Identidad, convivencia y éxito académico de las alumnas españolas musulmanas de las ciudades autónomas de Ceuta y Melilla, la Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid y la Comunidad Valenciana

Abstract

Esta investigación estudia la identidad y los procesos de integración de mujeres universitarias de entre dieciocho y treinta y seis años, españolas y extranjeras residentes en España desde su infancia o adolescencia, que forman parte de la minoría religiosa musulmana. Se tiene en cuenta, por un lado, la imagen mediática que existe sobre el Islam y las mujeres musulmanas, y por otro, se utiliza una perspectiva decolonial como desafío para repensar y redefinir la realidad de las entrevistadas de este estudio. Para el logro del objetivo de este estudio, se utiliza una metodología cualitativa, basada principalmente en las entrevistas individuales y los grupos de discusión, cuyos resultados han sido interpretados siguiendo algunas de las pautas del enfoque de la teoría fundamentada y el análisis de contenido. A partir de la recogida y el análisis de los datos se constata, entre otras conclusiones, la existencia de una enriquecedora diversidad en la manera en la que se definen y presentan a sí mismas. Este grado de diversidad, sin embargo, no se aprecia en el modo en que entienden el término integración, donde podremos ver que la mayoría de ellas no considera que la asimilación sea un modo correcto de comprender este concepto, y apuestan por definirlo como convivencia. Asimismo se evidencia, respecto a las experiencias que han vivido durante formación académica así como en los ámbitos social y laboral, que han sufrido situaciones de discriminación. Respecto al hiyab, se observa cómo para ellas el debate no es el significado del mismo, ya que consideran que éste es múltiple y diferente para cada mujer. Sino que el debate se encuentra en el respeto de la dignidad y libertad de la mujer para decidir lo que ella desee hacer con su vida, con independencia de que sus decisiones agradan o no a los demás. [ABSTRACT]This research studies the identity and integration of university Spanish women who are members of the religious Muslim minority of Spain. It takes into account, first, the media image that exists about Islam and Muslim women, and second, is used as a perspective decolonial to rethink and redefine the reality of the women interviewed for this study. To achieve the goal of this study, we use a qualitative methodology, mainly based on individual interviews and focus groups. The results have been interpreted by following some of the guidelines of the grounded theory and analysis of content approaches. From the collection and analysis of data is found, among other findings, the existence of a rich diversity in the way which is used by these women to define and present them. This level of diversity, however, is not seen in the way they understand the term integration, where we can see that most of them do not consider that assimilation is a correct way to understand it, and they prefer to define it like coexistence. Likewise, we evidence about the experiences that they have lived during their academic life as well as in their social and working lives, that they have suffered discrimination situations. About the hijab, we conclude that for these women the debate is not the meaning of it, as they feel that it is multiple and different for every woman. Rather, the debate is on the respect for the dignity and freedom of women to decide what they want to do with their lives, whether we like or not their decisions
