Abstract
The industrial sector is increasingly facing complex processes that require expert systems to support decision-making, and for this purpose, useful methods and techniquesmust be developed. In particular, this thesis presents a project developed in collaboration with a Spanish company in the honeycomb cardboard industry. This project aims to improve the decision-making process and optimise factory logistics for the company. Their primary business involves serving rectangular pieces of material obtained from larger panels previously produced. Therefore, the main challenge is the Cutting Stock Problem, as known in the literature. The company we are working with produces its panels, so they can define the dimensions of the stock sizes from which the smaller items will be obtained. The problem addressed is the 2-dimensional Cutting Stock Problem with variable-sized stock...
