Juan José Millás y las nuevas tecnologías audiovisuales

Abstract

La existencia de la llamada literatura de las nuevas tecnologías es un hecho en creciente desarrollo desde finales del siglo XX. En la presente tesis doctoral me he propuesto analizar la producción narrativa y periodística del escritor Juan José Millás (Valencia, 1946) desde esta perspectiva apenas perfilada en anteriores estudios sobre su obra. He preferido enfocar el estudio hacia la configuración de la estética cibercultural, también traspasada por el pensamiento posmoderno. La cibercultura tiene que ver con el replanteamiento de la lógica imperante provocado por los nuevos medios de producción y reproducción, lo que ha generado un nuevo modelo estético y de pensamiento muy sugerente para la creatividad de los artistas y creadores del siglo XXI. Pero el impacto de las nuevas tecnologías audiovisuales también ha sido profundo en otros aspectos relacionados con la vida humana. El fenómeno tecnológico ya es parte del contexto de nuestra época, se ha integrado en la cotidianidad y podemos considerar que el hombre se ha acostumbrado a la omnipresencia de las tecnologías. Al mismo tiempo ha modificado sus nociones sobre sí mismo y el entorno, su pensamiento, observación y comportamiento, y por lo tanto afectar a la manera en que experimenta y produce arte en general y literatura en particular. La ciencia, las nuevas tecnologías y las obras audiovisuales que resultan del influjo cibercultural han logrado abrirse paso como referencias culturales para los escritores: la base creativa e inspiracional ya no es solo literaria, los modos de producción y representación se amplían...The existence of the called literature of new technologies is a fact under development since the end of the XX century. In this doctoral thesis I resolved to analyze the narrative and journalistic production of the writer Juan José Millás (Valencia, 1946) from that point of view barely outlined in previous studies on his work. I wanted to focus the study on the configuration of the cibercultural aesthetics, also affected by posmodern thought. Cyberculture is connected with rethinking of the prevailing logic caused by new media production and reproduction, which has generated a new aesthetic model very suggestive for XXI century artists. The impact of new audiovisual technologies has also been profound in other aspects of human life. The technological phenomeon is already part of the context of our time, it’s been integrated into everyday life and we can consider that human beings is in the habit of omnipresence of the technologies. At the same time, new technologies have modified the notions about themselves and the environment, the thought, observation and behavior, and thus have affected the way how we feel and produce art and literature. Science, new technologies and audiovisual works in cyberculture have made their way as cultural references for writers: the creative and inspirational basis now is not only literary, the production’s and representation have been expanded. My task in this doctoral thesis has been to explore the creative solutions that Millás, the object of my study, has been contributing in his journalistic and narrative work while the new technologies were expanding around him: how was the expressive revaluation and the incorporation of these devices in discourse and structure of Millás’ creations, what textual logic has prevailed, both in content —themes, experiences— and form —aesthetics, structure—...
