Abstract
This paper offers a comprehensive and detailed account of a pivotal moment in the history of Fluxus—namely, the Festival held in the German city of Wiesbaden in September 1962. Despite being regarded as a crucial starting point for Fluxus, and thus as a key moment in the history of art of the second half of the 20th century, the precise content and development of the Festival’s different concert evenings have often been obscured or overlooked in historical accounts. By delving into archival research and conducting personal interviews with the artists who participated, this paper aims to reconstruct the Festival’s program and its impact on the trajectory of Fluxus.
