A inicios de la segunda década del siglo XXI el uso del concepto de «prosumo» o «prosumidor», desarrollado por Alvin Toffler en la década de los ochenta del siglo pasado con el fin de analizar las tres grandes olas transformadores de la civilización desde una mirada economicista, se recuperó con relativa tibieza. Desde áreas como el marketing digital, la comunicación corporativa o política, con dicho concepto se trató de dar nombre a los hábitos emergentes que se observaban en torno al usuario de Internet germinado en la Web 2.0. o Web social. Pese a pretender ser una categorización diferencial entre el viejo y el nuevo usuario que, además, es representativo de los hábitos generales en la nueva fase de Internet, su utilización no sólo se ha limitado a esas especialidades, sino que apenas se ha consolidado como categoría analítica de las mismas...
At the onset of the second decade of the 21st century, the use of the concept "prosumption" or "prosumer," initially developed by Alvin Toffler in the 1980s to analyze the three transformative waves of civilization from an economistic perspective, was revisited with relative lukewarm interest. In fields such as digital marketing, corporate and political communication, this concept aimed to name the emerging habits observed around Internet users rooted in Web 2.0 or the social web. Despite intending to be a differential categorization between the old and the new user which, moreover, is representative of the general habits in the new phase of the Internet, its use has not only been limited to these specialties but has also barely solidified as an analytical category within them...
