Dado el incremento en la esperanza de vida, se espera que la prevalencia de enfermedades crónicas y debilitantes aumente significativamente en un futuro próximo. Un ejemplo de estas afecciones serían las enfermedades musculoesqueléticas caracterizadas por una reducción del cartílago hialino (condropenia) o de la masa ósea (osteopenia), como la osteoporosis, la artritis reumatoide (RA) o la osteoartritis. Por lo tanto, se necesitan nuevas estrategias terapéuticas para mitigar la carga socioeconómica que estas enfermedades suponen y van a suponer. Del mismo modo, enfermedades raras como la osteogénesis imperfecta (OI) también podrían beneficiarse de estas soluciones innovadoras a pesar de presentar una menor incidencia...
Given the increase in life expectancy, the prevalence of many chronic and debilitating diseases is expected to significantly increase in the near future. One example of these disorders would be musculoskeletal conditions characterized by a reduction of hyaline cartilage (i.e., chondropenia) or bone mass (i.e., osteopenia), such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), or osteoarthritis. Therefore, new therapeutic strategies are needed to mitigate the socioeconomic burden that these diseases pose. Additionally, rare diseases like osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) could also benefit from these innovative solutions despite presenting a lower incidence...
