Abstract
Las formas de relacionarse los ciudadanos en todo el mundo han experimentado profundos cambios con el inicio del siglo XXI las cuales, entre otras, derivan de la generalización del uso de las conocidas como tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones y el impulso experimentado por el ciberespacio como nuevo entorno global. Sin embargo, el consiguiente proceso de transformación digital ofrece una doble perspectiva referida, por un lado, a los beneficios y, por otro, a los riesgos que ofrece a los usuarios. Así, la posibilidad de estar permanentemente informados y conectados a nuestras redes sociales nos hace pagar un peaje, que se cifra en la pérdida de intimidad y la monetización de nuestros datos personales por parte de empresas que, mediante complejos algoritmos, definen las preferencias de los usuarios. Estos son el anverso y el reverso de una misma moneda que ya no puede acuñarse de otra manera...
The ways in which citizens relate to each other around the world have undergone profound changes at the beginning of the twenty-first century, which, among others, derive from the generalization of the use of what are known as information and communication technologies and the impulse experienced by cyberspace as a newglobal environment. However, the ensuing process of digital transformation offers a double perspective referring, on the one hand, to the benefits and, on the other, to the risks it offers to users. Thus, the possibility of being permanently informed and connected to our social networks makes us pay a toll, which is the loss of privacy and the monetization of our personal data by companies that, through complex algorithms, define the preferences of users. These are the obverse and reverse of the same coin that can no longer be minted in any other way...
