Método genealógico e historias familiares. Estudios en el espacio teórico del parentesco

Abstract

Entre la diversidad de procedimientos y fuentes de información que se aplican para realizar estudios de parentesco, el etnógrafo cuenta con el método etnográfico para reconstruir las relaciones parentales de los grupos investigados. Aunque diferentes investigadores han descrito los usos que este método puede ofrecer para estos estudios, en este artículo no se pretende hacer una enumeración ni un análisis exhaustivo de ellos. Más bien se intenta exponer algunos de estos usos para dar una idea de las potencialidades que encierran, así como mostrar los inconvenientes y las ventajas que pueden ofrecer al investigador que se decide a utilizarlos como herramienta de trabajo.

Among the diversity of procedures and information sources that are applied to carry out kinship studies, the ethnographer counts with the ethnographic method to reconstruct the parental relationships of the investigated groups. Although different investigators have described the uses that this method can offer for these studies, in this article it is not sought to make an enumeration neither an exhaustive analysis of them. Rather it is tried to expose some of these uses to give an idea of the potentialities that contains, as well as to show its inconveniences and advantages to the investigator.
