Abstract
In this research work we will try to analyze the key aspects of the Greek debt crisis and the political management carried out by the leftist government of Syriza in the year of 2015. After exposing the main reasons that made the Greek crisis a systemic crisis at European level, we will try to understand the reasons why the Syriza leftist party was unable to apply its leftist public spending policies. We will cover the period since the beginning of 2015 with the arrival to the government of Tsipras, the negotiations with the institutions of the Troika (European Commission, ECB and IMF), the referendum of July 5 and the acceptance of the new austerity policies signed in the third rescue memorandum for Greece.
