Cultura total: el fundamentalismo artístico de las vanguardias históricas

Abstract

La compenetración que, a partir del romanticismo, se estableció entre el ejercicio de la política y el ámbito del arte alcanzó su época de esplendor en el periodo de entreguerras, el mismo que atestiguó el auge de los totalitarismos como nueva forma de régimen político, así como el asentamiento de un modo inédito de producción cultural, plasmado por las vanguardias artísticas. Esta coincidencia no es casual, habida cuenta de que ambas tendencias venían inspiradas por una matriz ideológica común. Así, pese al prestigio del que gozan las corrientes vanguardistas, reforzado por el repudio al que finalmente se vieron sometidas por parte del nazismo y el comunismo, han ido apareciendo estudios que no solo demuestran la afinidad teórica sino que documentan la complicidad práctica que existió entre el totalitarismo y las vanguardias.
