Abstract
El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral es presentar un estudio completo de la boda entre Mariana de Austria y Felipe IV, desde el anuncio del matrimonio en 1647 hasta la entrada triunfal de la reina en la Corte en noviembre de 1649, teniendo en cuenta también el programa de festejos programado para los meses posteriores. Curiosamente, la figura de Mariana de Austria así como su matrimonio con Felipe IV no han suscitado demasiado interés por parte de la crítica, lo que resulta extraño si tenemos en cuenta la importancia política que tuvo este enlace durante el siglo XVII, gracias al cual Felipe IV pudo perpetuar la dinastía de los Austrias hasta los albores de siglo. Para la reconstrucción de las nupcias hemos tenido en cuenta las fuentes primarias, especialmente las relaciones de sucesos, textos en los que, como veremos, se relataban de manera pormenorizada todos los acontecimientos y decoraciones que tenían lugar durante los fastos reales. Su estudio proporciona una serie de datos de enorme interés para conocer el funcionamiento y la mentalidad de la sociedad de la época, ya que nos ofrecen una imagen de la celebración festiva en el mismo momento en que se produce. Por ello, constituyen el punto de partida perfecto para la reconstrucción de la fiesta cortesana barroca. Teniendo esto en cuenta, podemos decir que son dos los ejes que articulan nuestro trabajo: la fiesta en su conjunto y la literatura emanada al amparo de esta, muchas veces descuidada en este tipo de estudios. Bajo esta premisa, hemos articulado articulado la tesis en tres grandes secciones: En la primera se lleva a cabo una reconstrucción histórica del enlace, teniendo en cuenta las causas que lo motivaron y los principales momentos de un proceso que se prolongó durante más de dos años. The aim of this thesis is to offer a complete study of the wedding between Mariana of Austria and Philip IV, since the announcement of the marriage in 1647 until the triumphant entry of the queen in the court in November 1649, having into account the scheduled celebrations for the coming months. It is curious how the character of Mariana of Austria as well as her marriage with Philip IV haven't aroused too much interest from the critics, which seems strange if we consider the political importance this link had during XVII century, thanks to it Philip IV could perpetuate the Austria dynasty until the dawn of the XVII century. For the reconstruction of the nuptials we have taken into account primary sources, especially the connection of events, texts in which, as we could see later, all the events and decorations which took place during the royal annals are narrated in detail. Its study provides a serie of great interest data in order to know the function and the mind of the society of that age, because it offers an image of the celebration in the very same moment in which it happens. Therefore, they constitute the ideal starting point for the reconstruction of the baroque courtly festivity. Keeping this in mind, we are able to say there are two axis where our work is articulated: the celebration in itself and the literature originated under the shelter of it. Under the assumption, we have articulated the dissertation into three mayor sections: In the first section the historical reconstruction of the bond is carried out, considering what causes triggered it and the main moments of a process that took more than two years to fulfill. Through this we intend to offer a frame which works as a reference for the reconstruction of the nuptials and the study of literature and the celebrations which are to come...
