José ('el abate') Marchena como lexicógrafo desde la «Biblioteca Virtual de la Filología Española (BVFE)»

Abstract

RESUMEN: La presente investigación se enmarca en la historia de la lexicografía del español, concretamente se acerca y presenta un repertorio lexicográfico del que casi no se tenía noticia, salvo por su aparición entre la nómina de obras de su autor en algunas de sus biografías, pero que no ha sido estudiado. Se trata de «Nuevo diccionario manual francés-español» (Burdeos, 1821) de José Marchena. Se analizará este repertorio lexicográfico tanto en la macroestructura como en la microestructura, prestando especial atención al léxico incluido y a la marcación diatécnica. Este estudio contribuirá a completar la historia de la lexicografía del español en un siglo, el XIX, que destaca por la profusión de diccionarios, tanto monolingües como bilingües.

ABSTRACT: The present research is framed within the history of Spanish lexicography, specifically it approaches and presents a lexicographical repertoire of which almost nothing was known, except for its appearance among the list of its author’s works in some of his biographies, but which has not been studied. This is the New French-Spanish manual dictionary (Bordeaux, 1821) by José Marchena. This lexicographical repertory will be analyzed both in terms of its macrostructure and microstructure, paying special attention to the lexicon included and to the diatonic markings. This study will help to complete the history of lexicography with Spanish in a century, the 19th century, which is notable for the profusion of dictionaries, both monolingual and bilingual.
