Iconografía del dios-río Nilo y su presencia en la musivaria hispanorromana

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el valor que tuvo la divinidad fluvial del Nilo en la Antigüedad Clásica y su iconografía en la musivaria romana, con el fin de situar en su contexto iconográfico los dos ejemplos hispanos. Asimismo, se ha incluido una breve introducción acerca de la iconografía de los dioses-río en otros soportes para así entender la importancia que tuvo el dios para la proliferación de imágenes de dioses-río bajo el prototipo de figura reclinada en el Imperio.This article analyzes the importance of Nile as a fluvial deity in Classical Antiquity and its iconography in the Roman mosaics, in order to situate in the iconographic context the two Hispanic examples. Besides, a brief introduction about the iconography of the river- gods in other arts has been included, to understand the importance that the god had for the proliferation of the prototype of the reclining figure in the Empire.
