dc.descriptionDeath in late medieval Castile was commemorated through various mechanisms: a memorial and the everlasting funeral space itself and the artifacts relating to the funeral and funeral ceremonies. In this paper, we intend to assess the relationship of these last practices, temporary and ephemeral, with the semantic developed in the tombs and burial spaces. In this general approach, we turn to contemporary texts and miniatures, particularly those that illustrate the offices of dead included in the Books of Hours.
dc.description.abstractLa muerte en la Castilla bajomedieval se conmemoró a través de varias fórmulas: la memorial y perenne del espacio fúnebre propiamente dicho y la transitoria relativa a las ceremonias de funerales y exequias. En el presente artículo, pretendemos calibrar la relación de estas últimas prácticas, de carácter temporal y por tanto efímeras, con la semántica desarrollada en los sepulcros y en los espacios fúnebres. En este planteamiento general, acudiremos a los textos de la época y a las miniaturas, especialmente, a las que ilustran los llamados oficios de muertos de los Libros de Horas.
