¿Confía el paciente alérgico en el farmacéutico?

Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: Los procesos alérgicos suponen un creciente problema debido a su mayor prevalencia. Existe un amplio arsenal farmacoterapéutico para abordar los síntomas de esta enfermedad, e incluso hoy en día terapia inmune (vacunación) para los casos más graves. OBJETIVOS: Conocer la confianza del paciente alérgico en el farmacéutico, comparando aquellos que lo hacen directamente (indicación) frente a los que presentan receta médica (dispensación). Asimismo, averiguar los conocimientos que los pacientes tienen acerca del tratamiento antialérgico. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Encuestas orales realizadas a 65 pacientes alérgicos en Oficinas de Farmacia de Madrid. Tratamiento de los datos con Excel®. RESULTADOS: El 30,80% de los pacientes acude directamente a la farmacia (3 de cada 10). El 95,40% afirma conocer la posología, más de la mitad (61,9%) sabe qué síntomas se combaten, y dos de cada tras (66,7%) conoce los posibles efectos secundarios de su tratamiento. VALORACIÓN: Hay que realizar más estudios para extrapolar los resultados al conjunto de la población, por ser una muestra escasamente representativa. CONCLUSIONES: El paciente confía en la atención e indicación del farmacéutico, y la población que padece de alergia tiene conocimientos del tratamiento, aunque hay que incidir en aspectos de la Atención Farmacéutica, como los efectos adversos del tratamiento.

INTRODUCTION: Allergic processes pose a growing problem due to its higher prevalence. There is broad pharmacotherapeutic arsenal to fight the symptoms of this disease, and even today immune therapy (vaccination) for the most serious cases. OBJECTIVES: To determine the allergic patient confidence in the pharmacist, comparing those who do directly (indication) versus those with prescription (dispensing). Also, find out the knowledge that patients have about allergy treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Oral surveys conducted in 65 allergic patients in Pharmacy Offices of Madrid. Data processing performed with Excel®. RESULTS: 30.80% of patients go directly to the pharmacy (3 in 10). The 95.40% claim to know the dosage, more than half (61.9%) know what symptoms are fought, and two in three (66.7%) aware of the possible side effects of treatment. POINTS: Further studies should be performed to extrapolate the results to the whole population, being an unrepresentative sample. CONCLUSIONS: Patient trusts care and indication of the pharmacist, and people who suffer from allergy has knowledge of treatment, though we have to incise on aspects of Pharmaceutical Care, such adverse effects of treatment.
