Abstract

Leporids were the new reservoir of this parasite, causing the important outbreak of human leishmaniasis (HL) in 2010, which occurred in the southwest of the Community of Madrid (CM), considered the largest in Europe. In dogs it can cause Lcan, with multisystem clinical signs and death in those cases in which it is not properly diagnosed and treated.
