Abstract
This thesis explores the relationship between postmodern sociology and philosophy and the dramatic writing of Dea Loher and Mark Ravenhill. It focuses on analyzing how these playwrights have reflected the characteristic issues of postmodernity in their theatrical works, as defined by thinkers such as Jean-François Lyotard, Zygmunt Bauman, Byung-Chul Han, and Eva Illouz. The research takes as its primary objects of study Das letzte Feuer (The Last Fire) and Am Schwarzen See (By the Black Lake), by Dea Loher, and Shopping and Fucking and Pool (no water), by Mark Ravenhill. Through an analytical system that examines the structure, language, characters, space, and time in these texts, the study investigates the themes and dramaturgical tools used by both authors and analyzes the convergences and differences between them. The thesis aims to position these works as representative examples of a type of late 20th and early 21st century dramaturgy that, through theatrical writing, articulates a critical reflection on the sociocultural transformations of postmodernity.
