Abstract
Vadillos-1 site has been studied since its recentl discovery, showing a high diversity of Cretaceous macro and microfossils. This work focuses on the study of the charophyte fossils remains collected in the grey marls of this locality. It was carried out with a 50 kg sample taken at the top of the grey-mark bed of Vadillos-1. This study has allowed to identify a total number of 3 different species (Atopochara trivolvis var. triquetra, Ascidiella iberica y Globator maillardii var. biutricularis), increasing the charophyte species list registered in Vadillos-1 by adding a new taxon, Ascidiella iberica. The identified association is consistent with the age previously site’s assigned to the site (Upper Barremian). The paleoenvironmental analysis carried out with the identified taxa, comparing it with other nearby sites, indicates the assemblange was originated from charophytes living in an environment with lakes and channels.
