El Manicomio Nacional de Leganés durante la Segunda República (1931-1936): organización de la asistencia y práctica clínica

Abstract

El proceso de institucionalización de la psiquiatría española desarrollado a lo largo de las primeras décadas del siglo XX ha sido motivo de diversas publicaciones desde los años sesenta del pasado siglo. Cabe destacar las investigaciones que analizan las instituciones mediante el estudio de los historiales clínicos de los internados, como el llamado “Programa Leganés”, desarrollado desde el 2005, que engloba una serie de aportaciones dirigidas por Olga Villasante y Rafael Huertas. Este Programa tiene como objeto analizar las características de la asistencia y las prácticas psiquiátricas del Manicomio Nacional de Leganés durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, dividida en cuatro periodos bien diferenciados políticamente. La presente investigación estudia la historia del establecimiento durante la Segunda República, completando el Programa que previamente se había ocupado, en tres tesis doctorales, del primer tercio del siglo (Reinado de Alfonso XIII y Dictadura de Primo de Rivera), la Guerra Civil y la Autarquía franquista...

The Spanish psychiatric institutionalization process which took place throughout the first decades of the 20th century has been the subject of different publications since the 1960s. Special attention must be paid to the body of knowledge which has been built upon the analysis of inpatients medical records, an example of which could be found in the so-called “Programa Leganés” started in 2005 by Olga Villasante and Rafael Huertas.This program aims at analyzing different facets of psychiatric care and practice at the National Asylum of Leganés (Manicomio Nacional de Leganés) in Madrid during the first half of the 20th century and it is divided into four politically differentiated periods. As the last part of the aforementioned program, this study focuses on the history of the institution during the Second Spanish Republic.
