Abstract
The following study has as its main objective to confirm that gender stereotypes are present amongst boys and girls in their second year of pre-school education. In order to cover this aim, 40 boys and girls from a public Primary School in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, participated in the study. They had to complete three different tasks, which were designed to measure trough different essays the stereotyping of professions and the attribution of certain attitudes, roles and abilities traditionally associated to one gender or another. The results showed that gender stereotypes were already present at the age of 3 years old, with slight differences in the answers related to the participants´ sex and age. It is therefore absolutely necessary to propose an educational intervention aimed to train teachers in the area of gender, so our school community can become truly coeducational.
