Entre milicia y corte : crítica y elogio en los «Coloquios militares» de Fernán López Alfonso

Abstract

RESUMEN: Los «Coloquios militares» de Fernán López Alfonso, obra redactada en torno a 1571, pero que ha permanecido manuscrita hasta nuestros días, muestran la visión que de la corte madrileña de Felipe II tienen dos soldados retirados que aspiran a obtener alguna merced, ya que sus servicios en diferentes guerras no les han procurado una posición con la que mantenerse. A lo largo de su deambular por el Alcázar y diversos espacios madrileños, comentarán los problemas de su profesión y de la vida en esa nueva corte de Felipe II al mismo tiempo que se elogia la figura del rey y la propia villa. En este trabajo se analiza cómo se conjuga la crítica con el elogio en una obra que pudo tener un interés de promoción personal del autor, al mismo tiempo que se señalan sus coincidencias con otros textos del periodo de similar temática.

ABSTRACT: “Coloquios militares” by Fernán López Alfonso was written around 1571, but it remained handwritten to this day. This play shows the two retired soldiers’ vision of the court of Philip II in Madrid. The soldiers aspire to obtain some favor for have a position to maintain themselves. Throughout their walking through the Alcázar and various Madrid spaces, they will talk about the problems of their profession and life in that new court of Philip II, at the same time that they praise the figure of the king and the town itself. This article analyzes how criticism is combined with praise in a work that could have had an interest in the author's personal promotion, while pointing out its coincidences with other texts of the period with similar themes.
