Abstract
"Introduction": In the western world the attention of self-harm injuries is a major clinical problem, and, in particular, psychiatric emergencies encompass a significant volume within prehospital and emergency room care, and are also often the gateway and detection of persons with suicidal risk. Objectives: 1) determine the incidence and characteristics of the suicide continuum in Madrid population attended in prehospital scope; 2) establish psychosocial and clinical factors that predict suicidal behavior and 3) describe a preventive program of suicidal behavior in prehospital care designed for the identification and detection of this risk. Methodology: study completed at SAMUR- Protección Civil. Study 1, consecutive transversal of 184 patients attended in cases of suicidal ideation, attempted and completed suicide. Analysis of frequencies and descriptives were performed to characterize the sample; the Student t test was used to prove if there were differences in the quantitative scales used, and for the difference of averages between more than two populations, the ANOVA Test was performed for a single factor. In order to figure out the groups were differences occurred, the Test of Pairs Gabriel was performed; and to check the extent of the effect Cohen's d was used. Finally, to explore the association between different independent variables and the type of conduct suicide contingency, tables Chi-square and Cramer's V were used to assess the strength of the association...
