Abstract
This chapter looks at the role research and researchers may play in counter-radicalisation policy and practice. When conducting research within the sub-field of radicalisation studies, researchers encounter various challenges that will shape the way they conduct their research and their career path. These decisions are not solely linked to research issues but also to the field's broader policy-relevant nature. Therefore, these decisions will also shape researchers’ work and, above all, their role in the production of counter-radicalisation policy and practice. The questions, challenges, and dilemmas that researchers will encounter at every research stage – and their link with counter-radicalisation policy and practice – will be the focus of this chapter.
