Apuntes sobre unas voces inexistentes en la traducción gallega de Giordano Ruffo (A propósito de unas recetas del "De medicina equorum")

Abstract

Le ms. 23076 de la Bibliothèque Nationale de Madrid contient la seule copie connue de la traduction galicienne du De medicina equorum de Jordanus Rufus. La transmission du texte du vétérinaire calabrais, tant en latin qu’en roman, est large mais mal connue. La révision de certains éléments de la tradition de cet ouvrage célèbre sera donc très utile pour repérer quelques problèmes textuels du codex de Madrid. Notre travail soumet à un examen rigoureux les divergences créées par certaines formes graphiques du manuscrit au sein de plusieurs passages. Il étudie, plus particulièrement, les termes présents dans un groupe de recettes de la traduction galicienne de Rufus, mal compris par ses éditeurs.

Ms. 23076 of the National Library in Madrid holds the only known copy of the translation into Galician of Giordano Ruffo’s De Medicina Equorum. In spite of our partial knowledge of the fact that the Calabrian veterinarian’s handbook was widely spread both in Latin and in Romance, a new approach to some of the elements in the tradition of such a famous work is useful to notice some of the textual problems arising from the version transmitted by the Madrid codex. This paper pays special attention to the divergent interpretations in some specific passages originated by certain graphic forms shown on the manuscript and focuses on the words included in a set of prescriptions in the Galician translation of Ruffo’s work, words which have been misinterpreted by those who have tried to edit such a complex work.
